Manifest Love: Finding new ways to be with and for each other.

Manifest Love offers trainings around the country in gay men's spirituality and ethics. The Founders declare their basic beliefs: 1) We aspire to create a more affectionate and loving gay world, that better manifests our most humane values in public and private. 2) We reject a queer culture that says we must compete, that attitude always serves us better than affection, that we need endanger one another, or that we cannot publicly embrace our most loving natures. 3) We affirm and support a robust sexual culture, as we know it's not all of who we are. 4) We know change is possible. As gay men helped build our culture, we can rebuild it. We know taking concrete actions can help us do better with and for each other. 5) We can give ourselves a world that better honors the true values of our hearts. That is the world we want for ourselves, and for each other. We think it is time we gave ourselves the gay lives we truly want.

Daedal Boy Shrine

Here's a very interesting site about the spiritual faculties of creative intention and manifesting reality, offering a protocol of specific instructions for exercising and focusing these powers. Interesting artwork!

I was mentally communicating and in sync with everyone; all the prophets of the bible, many historical people whom I had read about, many deceased acquaintances and relatives. There was no dominant force, no forceful leader. I somehow knew who everyone was. Every thought was interacted with the whole community. Joseph Campbell

Joseph Campbell was not a gay man -- though he lived most of his adult life in an apartment on Waverly Place overlooking Sheridan Square in NY's gay West Village (and, one can imagine, may have watched the Stonewall Riots from his aerie high above the street). He and his wife, the famous dancer and Broadway choreographer Jean Erdman, had no children. Both of them remained free from the constraints of "normal" domesticity in order to focus on their cultural contribution to the evolution of consciousness -- a trait they share with most gay men and lesbians. Here's a link to the Joseph Campbell Foundation.

Campbell's vision of myth and religion as metaphor for the dynamics of consciousness and personality supports a religious and spiritual attitude that gay people can readily embrace. The pages of White Crane Journal regularly present glimpses into this vision.

White Crane editor, Toby Johnson, was extraordinarily fortunate to have come to know Campbell personally and to carry on a ten year correspondence with him, so that he became the "wise old man" of Toby's spiritual journey.

Membership in the Library supports transformation of human religious consciousness.

Green Cleaning Institute

Here's a reference to a small book called AIDS-Preventing Sexual Hygiene by gay sociologist Toby Marotta on sexual hygiene based, interestingly, in the cleanliness practices of Zorastrianism. The book is subtitled: "Complement Condom Use by Gargling, Douching, and Washing After Sex." It's a terrible mistake, Marotta argues, to think there's nothing you can do if you make a mistake in judgment and get yourself into an act of unsafe sex. There are ways to wash afterwards (with a vinegar solution, for instance) that can be shown effective in reducing spread of microorganisms.

Michael Titus Parkes

Gay performance atist, Michael Parkes', style of performance bridges the gap between what we normally think of as theatre and life itself, by transposing fiction with factual storytelling from his own life. Merged with soulful songs from his new live CD, "Charity", he tells stories that are planned but unrehearsed in a free-flowing format. Seen through the eyes of a gay man in his early 30's, Parkes' retold histories eventually touch upon the universal themes of love, aging, and loss.
