The Detroit Post and Tribune published an article about SARAH EMMA EDMONDS SEELYE who, while passing as a man and going by the alias Frank Thompson, fought in the American Civil War, sold books, and nearly married a girl in Nova Scotia. She was one of nearly 400 women who enlisted in the war.
