But there’s no getting around the fact that Drew Pearson, who had a nose for news, recorded in his diaries the rumors that were swirling around Washington regarding McCarthy’s alleged homosexual activities. C.A. Tripp in The Homosexual Matrix suggests that the senator was, in fact, homosexual (we won’t call him “Gay” just as we don’t call Log Cabin Republicans “Gay” and for the same reasons.) If it’s so, then we are reminded of the sad truth that it sometimes takes one to hate one.
