Today is the birth date of LOU HARRISON (d: 2003) Experimental composer and musician. He was a student of Henry Cowell, Arnold Schoenberg, and K.R.T. Wasitodiningrat. He is most known for his work using instruments from other cultures. Along with his long-time partner, William Colvig, he popularized the use of the “American Gamelan” (designed by Colvig). He was proudly Gay and affirmative. His music is a delight.
