JACOB BERNSTEIN, born on this date, is a reporter for the New York Times Styles desk, where he has been on staff since 2013. In addition to writing profiles of fashion designers, artists and celebrities, he has focused much of his attention on L.G.B.T. issues, philanthropy and the world of furniture design.

Bernstein has also written for The Daily Beast,, New York Magazine, and Women’s Wear Daily where he wrote about the magazine business.

In 2016, he wrote and directed the HBO documentary Everything Is Copy, which was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards, one for outstanding documentary or nonfiction special and the other for outstanding writing for a nonfiction program.

Bernstein is out gay and the son of journalist Carl Bernstein and Nora Ephron.
